Getting started

Connect your Square account

Authorize ShareFront once and sales start arriving on their own.

3 minute read

Before you start

Each shop connects its own Square account. You need to be the shop’s owner in ShareFront, and you need to be able to sign in to the Square account your register uses.

Connect

  1. 1Open Integrations in the sidebar.
  2. 2Click Connect Square.
  3. 3Sign in to Square and approve the access ShareFront asks for.
  4. 4Square sends you back to Integrations, which shows “Square is connected.” and a Valid status with your merchant id.

What ShareFront can see

ShareFront asks Square only for what it needs to record sales and keep your item codes in step:

  • Your merchant profile
  • Payments and orders, to record each sale line
  • Catalog items, to read and create the items that match your vendor codes

How sales arrive

Square notifies ShareFront when a payment completes. ShareFront then loads the payment and its order from Square and records one line per item, so the amounts always come from Square itself.

Once a day, ShareFront also checks the last two days of payments and fills in anything a notification missed. A payment is never recorded twice.

Keeping the connection healthy

Square access lasts 30 days. ShareFront renews it automatically every week, so you should never have to reconnect in normal use.

If a renewal keeps failing, Integrations shows an alert. If the status changes to Expired or Revoked, click Reconnect Square to resume importing sales.

Disconnecting

Disconnect on Integrations revokes ShareFront’s access at Square and deletes the stored credentials. New sales stop importing. Sales already recorded stay in ShareFront.
