Assign item codes to vendors
Each Square item name is a code. Give a code to a vendor and their sales follow it.

How codes work
A code is the name of an item in Square. When a sale comes in, ShareFront matches each line’s item name to a code in your shop, and the vendor who owns that code gets the sale.
Codes are unique within a shop, so one code always belongs to one vendor. The same code can exist in a different shop.
Add codes to a vendor
- 1When you create a vendor, list their codes in the Codes field, separated by commas.
- 2For an existing vendor, open their page, type a code under New code, and click Add code.
- 3To take a code away, click the remove button next to it on the vendor’s page.
What changes in Square
When your shop is connected to Square, adding a code creates a matching item in your Square catalog, so the code is ready to ring up at the register. ShareFront never deletes items from Square.
Codes that already exist in Square
Once a day, ShareFront reads your Square catalog and adds any item names it doesn’t know yet as codes with no vendor. Assign one to a vendor and it works like any other code.
Assigning a code also moves that code’s existing sales to the vendor, so lines recorded before the code had an owner are credited correctly.
Sales with no vendor
A line whose item name doesn’t match an assigned code is still recorded, without a vendor. It doesn’t send a sale email, and it appears in the Misc section of your pay-period report so nothing is lost.
